I come to the PEJ Board after having been involved through partner organizations in the early years of PEJ, and learning from Dr. Norman Camp’s vision of community activism, education and caring for the environment. As a retired elementary educator, and community youth leader, I had the opportunity to lead elementary, middle and high schoolers through Top Teens of America, Raleigh-Apex NAACP Youth Council, Summer Youth Camps and the Episcopal Youth Community. I eagerly anticipate participating in more programs and activities sponsored and held at the Wetland Center such as the Big Sweep Cleanups, Festival in Motion, Mud Day Privet and Stilt grass Pulls and
ground prep for walking trails and the Ross Andrews Garden pathway. I look forward to extending the work and education by involving community youth or all ages in self education, active
participation, and activism for our environment. I feel this is the right time and place to follow through with Dr. Camp’s vision he stated at ground breaking for the Wetland Center in 2009.
