I am honored to serve on the PEJ board and the Executive Committee as the Secretary. I hold both a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Master's degree in School Administration from North Carolina Central University. Growing up in Southeast Raleigh, near the Walnut Creek Wetlands, I developed a deep appreciation for what was once a polluted floodplain in a predominantly Black neighborhood. Thanks to the vision, perseverance, and passion of Dr. Norman Camp and his team, this desolate land has transformed into a thriving environmental wetland, a place where children and the community can explore, enjoy, and take pride in their surroundings.
As a former middle school science teacher and retired principal who served at Fuller GT/AIG Magnet Elementary School, and as the inaugural principal at Southeast Raleigh Elementary School, I am driven to collaborate with the PEJ community on solutions to environmental issues and inequities. Both schools are within two blocks of the Walnut Creek Wetland Center, underscoring my commitment to environmental stewardship. Ensuring that children appreciate nature and learn about wetlands through authentic exploration is a personal priority.
In my free time, I enjoy swimming, frolicking and relaxing at the beach, spending time with family and friends, and developing my Christian life.
