Angela Allen holds a doctoral degree in Chemistry, obtaining her BA from Albany State University (Georgia) and PhD from North Carolina State University (North Carolina). She has been in higher education for over 20 years with her current position as an Assistant Teaching Professor at NCSU. In addition, she is the Director of the Environmental Technology & Management Program and the Co-Director of the Environmental Sciences Program. Dr. Allen joined the board after a collaboration in an extensive investigation of the water quality in Southeast Raleigh. She connects PEJ in the area of research, academic engagements, and grant writing. Her educational background has served the WCLN (Walnut Creek Learning Network) through community engagement and awareness of PEJ. After collaborating with the PEJ, the Wetland Center, and the community in the area, she discovered her passion for community involvement. PEJ has given her an avenue to be empowered in knowledge outside of normal day-to-day work, and it is that avenue that leads her to serve the needs and concerns of others.
